Simple MediaCheck offers a simple way to check your camera, microphone, speaker, NFC, Bluetooth and USB HID (Human Interface Devices).
Important:
This is not a comprehensive test, but only checks the basic availability and function. Please read the following information for limitiations and availability on different systems.
Camera and Microphone:
You must grant permission for camera and microphone to use Simple MediaCheck ('Allow this time' is sufficient). You can remove granted permissions after the check.
For details see Use your camera and microphone in Chrome and
How to manage your camera and microphone permissions with Firefox.
Speaker:
Available speakers are listed as audio output devices. For no audio output device found or speaker error you can always use the 'Play Test Sound' button (plays a 10 sec. beep tone).
NFC:
You must activate NFC function in settings. The check only reads basic NDEF information.
Check is only available for Chrome on Android (not for Window, Linux, iPhones/iPads).
Bluetooth:
You must activate Bluetooth in settings. Check is only available for Chrome on Windows, Android and Linux (not for iPhones/iPads).
For Chrome on linux it only works if you activate Bluetooth in experimental features (no official support):
chrome://flags/#enable-web-bluetooth
USB HID:
Shows USB attached Human Interface Devices (HID) like mouse, keyboard, headset etc. Check is only available for Chrome on Windows and Linux (not for mobile systems like Android, iPhones/iPads).
Some USB devices may not be listed at all for security reasons. For security reasons you need to grant permission to access the devices (only recommended for experienced users).
Note: You can not select the device (except USB). The active device in the device settings will be used. Dependig on browser, active microphones and speakers may appear more times in the device list.
